Esper Agent Version: v9.2.2411
New Features and Announcements
-
We’ve standardized app version and app code for Android apps: Previously we used build number to check for updated Android app versions. However, we will now use version code to be consistent with Android Studio terminology. You’ll still be able to use the APIs that you previously used. To use the newer API, include the query param legacy_format=false in the request. In the console and API, the following changes were made:
- Version name will replace version code.
- Version code will replace build number.
You’ll see the new terminology in the following sections of the console:
-
App Management
- App Version Table
- Edit Release Tag Modal
-
Blueprint Manager
- Apps & Configuration's Manage Applications section
- Device Activity Feed
- Group Activity Feed

- Install and uninstall Android apps at scale via a group: Previously, we released Converge Dispatch, which lets you converge thousands of devices with one click. We’ve now added two more dispatch commands: install and uninstall. You can use this new dispatch command at the group level for Android devices. This means you’ll be able to install (or uninstall) an application for many devices at once. Currently, the install and uninstall dispatch commands can only be used for immediate actions. Use the Activity Feed to track the progress of these commands. Other install and uninstall commands, including individual and blueprint installs and uninstalls, are unaffected by this change.
Android Esper Agent update:
- Fixed an issue where the active plugin status in the console was not immediately updated after installing a new supervisor plugin.
- Fixed a rare issue where the phone number and ICCID were not visible in the console for a few devices.
- Fixed an ANR issue that occurred when stopping the onboarding process.
Bug Fixes and Improvements
- We've increased the file size limit for users who handle over the air updates through Content Management. To request this feature, contact us.
- You can now remote view and control RedHat and Fedora Wayland-based Linux distributions.
- We’ve added support for Android 14 and 15 for EMM Token (AFW) and ZTE provisioning.
- We now support more locations on the Dashboard map. You’ll now be able to view up to 5000 devices (and their locations) from the Device Location widget.
- We fixed an issue in Safari where clicking the Activity Feed in the console caused the page to reload automatically.
We’re excited to launch DevRel 178 over the coming days, and the Esper team is hard at work on the next release. Our next release will be in January 2026. Please contact Esper Support to share your thoughts on how Esper can improve future releases.
