New Features
- Disable MAC Address Randomization for iPhones and iPads: You can now turn off the default MAC address randomization on iOS and iPadOS devices when they join Esper-managed Wi-Fi networks. Randomization gives the device a different MAC address on each network, so use this setting if you identify devices by their Wi-Fi MAC address. Requires supervised devices running iOS/iPadOS 14.0 or later. Now available in blueprints.
- Force Wi-Fi to Allowed Networks Only for iPhones and iPads: When this setting is on, devices can only join the Wi-Fi networks defined in the blueprint. This gives you more control over how devices connect in the field. Requires supervised devices running iOS/iPadOS 14.5 or later. Now available in blueprints.
- Last Reboot time added to Devices & Groups for Linux and Windows: You can now see when a Linux or Windows device last rebooted from the Devices & Groups screen. Reboots sent from the console or API appear in this field, but reboots done on the physical device aren't captured. Use last reboot time to confirm a reboot during a support workflow or a mass reboot cycle.
- Timeout for Custom Actions: You can now set timeouts for Custom Actions, which gives scripts a predictable outcome. Previously, you could only configure timeouts inside a script in blueprints or device actions. With Custom Actions, you can set up a button or toggle that runs a script with a timeout already applied, so your operators can run scripts on devices with a timeout in place.
- Separate Permissions for Group and Individual Converge. You can now set separate permissions for converging devices at the group level and the individual device level. This permission is designed to prevent users from accidentally converging an entire group. A user can still select every device in a group and converge them at once. Configure this setting in a Custom Role.

Android Esper Agent Updates:
- Fixed an issue where a device's connected Wi-Fi network could be lost after a blueprint converge.
- Fixed an issue where screen orientation settings would revert to their previous state after a blueprint converge on certain devices.
- Fixed an issue where the Esper Agent could become temporarily unresponsive on some Kiosk mode devices.
- Fixed an issue where the Esper Agent could become unresponsive for several seconds on the first boot after a reboot when switching to a Kiosk application.
- Fixed an issue where the Esper Agent could become temporarily unresponsive while applying device policy on Kiosk mode devices.
- Fixed a rare issue where the 'Recents' button could become visible for certain devices even if it was hidden by default.
- Fixed an issue where a persistent password prompt could block Kiosk mode from launching after a password policy change.
- Fixed an issue where provisioning could hang after connecting to Wi-Fi after a connectivity check.
- Improved the reliability of device connectivity by preventing retries when invalid credentials are detected.
- Fixed an issue where a hidden Wi-Fi network added during a blueprint converge could fail to connect automatically even when the access point was in range.
Bug Fixes and Improvements
- Fixed an issue where serial numbers associated with Windows devices couldn’t be removed in the console UI.
- Fixed an issue that affected iOS/iPadOS devices that were switched from kiosk to multi-app mode. The dropdown menu associated with the switch showed the app’s ID rather than its name for users with a Custom Role. Custom Role users will now see the app's name.
- Fixed an issue where certain devices set to portrait mode via a blueprint would temporarily switch orientations after a converge. Screen orientation now persists.
- Fixed an issue where certain devices intermittently got stuck on a Waiting for internet or Saving your Wi-Fi info screen during provisioning. Devices will now proceed through provisioning.
