Esper Agent Version: 14.2.5590
New Features
-
New iOS and iPadOS Blueprint Settings: We've added 20 restrictions to the iOS tab of a blueprint, giving you more control over the device experience from the console. New settings are not applied by default, so existing blueprints converge the same way they do today. See Managing Apple Devices through Blueprints and Settings for details.
- Device Security: Allow Manual Profile Installation, Allow Passcode Changes, Allow Face ID and Touch ID Unlock, Allow Face ID and Touch ID Changes, Allow Device Name Changes, Allow Quick Start to a New Device, and Allow Screen Time.
- Hardware Settings: Allow Pairing with Computers and Allow USB Accessories While Locked.
- Platform Services: Allow Account Changes, Allow In-App Purchases, Allow Explicit Content, Force Limited Ad Tracking, and Allow Apple Intelligence (iOS/iPadOS 26.4+).
- iCloud: Allow iCloud Backup, Allow iCloud Drive, Allow iCloud Keychain, Allow iCloud Photos and Shared Albums, Allow Managed App iCloud Sync, and Allow Managed Books Backup and Sync.
- Improved Web Content Filtering: You can now apply an Allow list and a Block list at the same time, with up to 500 URLs per list. Previously, only one list could be active, with a limit of 100 URLs.
- New tvOS Blueprint Settings: The tvOS tab now includes Allow Device Name Changes (tvOS 11+) and Allow Explicit Content (tvOS 11.3+). See Managing Apple TVs (tvOS).
-
Group ID and blueprint ID placeholders for iOS managed configurations: You can now use the
${esper.groupId}and${esper.blueprintId}dynamic placeholders in managed app configurations for iOS and iPadOS apps. The placeholders resolve to the device's group ID and assigned blueprint ID when a command installs the app or applies the configuration to an app already on the device. Learn more about Dynamic Placeholders for iPhones and iPads. -
Provision Android devices over USB from Esper Console: You can now provision an Android device over USB directly from Esper Console with the Esper Device Provisioner, with no desktop app to download. Navigate to Provisioning > Methods, click on Connect device, choose Android and Esper Device Provisioner, select a blueprint, and track each provisioning step as it completes. Learn more about the web-based Esper Device Provisioner.
-
Filter by Activity in the Activity Feed: You can now use filters in the Activity Feed to filter from more than 90 activities by status, start date, end date, and users.
-
Android Esper Agent
- Fixed an issue where app installations could fail before an earlier, incomplete install. Incomplete installs are now cleared and no longer block app install attempts.
- Updated app syncs to retain the newer installed app version and report it as the current version instead of attempting a downgrade.
- Fixed an issue where device screen rotation settings could revert after unrelated Custom Settings changes.
- Added support for opening native Android Language, date and time, and keyboard settings from Esper Settings when configured by a device policy, such as a Supervisor plugin.
- Improved Google Assistant policy support for devices using the current Google Assistant app package.
Bug Fixes and Improvements
Console
- Updated Setting Names and Descriptions for Apple Devices in a Blueprint: Hotspot & USB Tethering is now Allow Hotspot Setting Changes, and Force Automatic Time & Date is now Force Automatic Time and Date on the iOS tab. Factory Reset, Camera, and Allow Siri Assistant have updated descriptions.
- Blueprint Ethernet settings: Fixed the Authentication Mode dropdown being clipped off-screen, keeping its options accessible when editing Ethernet settings.
- Device Properties filtering: Fixed the "Something went wrong" error when clicking Select All in the Device Properties filter.
- Screenshot previews: Fixed screenshot thumbnails not automatically appearing after a successful capture in the Remote Viewer tab, eliminating the need to switch tabs or refresh to see the captured screenshot.
- Pipeline run creation: Addressed a duplicate run-number issue that could cause pipeline run creation to fail with an Internal Server Error.
Android
- Local Android settings: Added support for opening native Android language, date/time, and keyboard settings from Esper Settings when permitted by device policy, including devices without Supervisor or Knox.
-
Google Assistant policy support: Extended Google Assistant policy enforcement to devices using the
com.google.android.apps.googleassistantpackage. - App installation reliability: Fixed an issue where failed or incomplete app installations could leave outstanding installation sessions and eventually block subsequent installs with a "Too many active sessions" error.
- App sync and convergence status: Fixed incorrect convergence failures and "In Drift" status caused by app downgrade errors when App Sync is configured as Do Not Enforce.
- Device orientation: Fixed an issue where devices could remain in Portrait after a blueprint was changed to Landscape, or screen rotation settings could revert following unrelated Custom Settings changes.
- Application inventory accuracy: Fixed an issue where Google applications that were not installed on a device could appear in the Console after an Agent/OTA update because of stale application records.
Windows
- Kiosk profile app data: Fixed an issue where applying a kiosk profile cleared app data on Windows devices. App data stored in User Profile directories is now cleared only when a device switches between kiosk modes or to multi-app mode.
- Kiosk profiles on earlier Windows 10 versions: Fixed an issue where kiosk profiles failed to apply on Windows 10 devices earlier than version 1809. Auto launch and auto launch arguments are not supported on these devices.
Linux
- Custom actions on Linux devices: Fixed an issue where users with custom roles got a 403 error when they ran custom actions from the Device Settings page, even though their role had the required permissions.
- Improved Linux provisioning: Provisioning now continues when optional Remote Viewer dependencies fail to install, and shows clearer warnings about the missing dependencies.
API
-
Wi-Fi MAC address in device and device app reports: Device and device app reports now include a Wi-Fi MAC address column. Generate a report with
GET /report/v0/reports/{report_id}to seewifi_mac_addressin the response. -
Device List API: When you use cursor pagination with
GET /api/v2/devices/, responses no longer include the total count field. If your integration reads count, update it to page through results with the cursor instead.
