The converge action applies blueprint settings to a device or brings the device back to its desired state. We’ve improved this command to converge devices at scale.
What’s changing with converge?
Previously, you could converge up to 999 devices at once in the console. Now, you can converge tens of thousands of devices at once.
What is the new limit for converging in the console?
We have no fixed upper limit. However, we’ve optimized the system to handle up to tens of thousands of devices.
During periods of high traffic, some users may experience longer wait times for converge operations to complete.
We recommend doing large converge operations during non-business hours.
How do I select all of my devices at once in the console?
In the Devices & Groups page, select the checkbox in the header column. Then, click on the Select all prompt that appears to select all devices in the console.
I attempt to converge all devices, but the converge option is greyed out. How can I converge all these devices?
You’ll run into this prompt when you have devices in your selection that can’t be converged.
You’ll need to apply a filter to the devices so that you select only provisioned or onboarded devices that are managed by blueprints.
To do so, click on Filter > Device States and select either Provisioned and/or Onboarded.
Then, select Blueprint in the Managed By filter and click Apply.
Select the entire list once again and the Converge button should be active.
Can I also select a group of 1000+ devices to converge?
Yes.
When I select a group of devices to converge, will the converge action also apply to its subgroups?
Yes.
How do I monitor converge command progress?
Currently, you can monitor converge command progress from the Event Feed, Activity Feed, or via the API. You can also use the Devices & Groups page and the In Drift column to see which devices are currently in drift.
Can I apply other commands to 1000+ devices at once?
Currently, only the converge command can be applied to 1000+ devices. We’re working on applying this to other commands in the future. Feel free to share your feedback by contacting Esper Support.
