What is the Unified Advanced Devices & Groups view?
Unified Advanced Devices & Groups is a redesigned version of the Devices & Groups experience in the Esper Console. It brings devices and groups into a single unified interface, eliminating the need to toggle between separate tabs.
Basic View (being deprecated – more information coming soon)
Advanced View (being replaced)
In the previous experience, devices and groups were shown as separate tabs. Switching between them required toggling the view, and group context was not visible alongside device details. The new view resolves this by placing group navigation in a persistent left panel while device details remain visible in the table on the right.

What's the difference between the Basic view, Advanced view, and Unified Advanced view?
Esper's Devices & Groups experience has evolved across three stages:
View |
What it was |
Status |
| Basic view | The original Devices & Groups experience with separate device and group tabs. | Being deprecated. |
| Advanced view | An updated experience that introduced improvements to the device table and filtering. | The Unified Advanced view replaces and extends this experience. |
| Unified Advanced view | Devices and groups in a single unified interface, with a persistent left panel for group navigation. | New look for Devices & Groups. General availability coming soon. |
What's changing in the Unified Advanced view?
The key changes from the previous experience are summarized below.
Before (Basic / Advanced view) |
After (Unified Advanced view) |
| The group section was a filtered view of the Devices section and often required many clicks when navigating subgroups. | The group panel can be collapsed using the arrow toggle, freeing up space to see more device columns at once. |
| Filters were segregated between views. | Filters (OS, Last Seen, Blueprints) are retained and work consistently across the unified view. |
| Devices and groups were shown as separate tabs. Toggling between them was required to see both. | Devices and groups are unified in a single view. The group hierarchy is always accessible in the left panel. |
How do I navigate groups in the new view?
Select any group in the left panel to filter the device table to that group's devices. Subgroups are indicated with an expand arrow — click it to expand and reveal nested subgroups.
Can I hide the group panel to see more of the device table?
Yes. Use the arrow toggle on the edge of the group panel to collapse it. This hides the group list and maximizes the device table area. Click the arrow again to restore the panel.
How do filters work in the Unified Advanced view?
Filters function the same as Advanced View. Located at the top of the device table, filters apply consistently whether you're viewing all devices or a specific group. The breadcrumb area above the table shows your current scope and total device count.
How do I customize the columns in the device table?
Click "+ More" in the filter bar to add or adjust visible columns. Available columns include Blueprint Name, OS Platform, and Last Seen (Browser time), among others.
How do I take bulk actions on devices?
Same as before. Select one or more devices using the checkboxes in the device table, then use the Actions menu in the top right to apply commands or changes across the selection.
When will Unified Advanced Devices & Groups be available?
We will announce general availability through the Esper release notes and help center. Currently scheduled for mid May 2026.
How do I get access to the Unified Advanced view?
If you haven’t already, switch to Advanced View in your Profile settings. Once Unified View is released, your console will automatically update.
When will Basic View be deprecated?
We will be deprecating Basic View before the end of 2026. We’ll continue to communicate with customers before the view is removed completely.
Will this change affect my existing workflows or APIs?
The Unified Advanced view is a UI change. Existing APIs and integrations are not affected by this update with one exception: Unified view will have a new API param. The new “ungrouped_only” param will filter the device list to show devices that aren’t associated with any groups.
All other devices, groups, and their attributes remain the same.
In addition, Unified Advanced View will continue to be developed.
