Esper Agent Version: v8.6.1155
New Features
-
Customizable device IDs and apps: You can now customize the size of alias names, device IDs, app, and icons using the Esper Launcher for Android devices in a blueprint. Choose from small, medium, large, and system default. You’ll also be able to preview any changes you make by clicking on the nifty See Preview button. Requires Esper Agent 8.6+.
- Allow apps to be launched by other apps: You can now set a new state – Launchable but Hidden – so that apps can be launched from other apps. These apps won’t appear on the home screen, either, so you can give users a clean device experience without sacrificing functionality. Check it out in a blueprint or in device or group app management.
- ZTE provisioning enhancements: We’ve made changes to the ZTE provisioning screen. You’ll now be able to register devices and copy your ZTE code snippet from the same screen. See the full process in the ZTE provisioning guide.
Bug Fixes and Improvements
- Devices & Groups filtering: We fixed an issue where the Devices & Groups filters sometimes showed the wrong number of records when selecting specific blueprints.
- Scheduled converge: We fixed an issue where the scheduled converge command did not convert the device time properly, causing the converge to happen later than expected. Schedule converges should now happen at the expected time.
- Reports sorting: We’ve improved sorting for Device Reports. Device states are now in the following order to prioritize the visibility of active devices: provisioned, onboarded, registered, in-between states, and disabled.
- iOS preloaded apps: We fixed an issue where preloaded apps for iOS devices wouldn’t load in a blueprint if the user had a custom role. Preloaded apps will now load if the user has the applicable permissions.
- Seamless CSVs: We’ve improved the performance of CSV uploads for device registration and Seamless provisioning. A spreadsheet with 3000 rows will now take four minutes to process instead of 31 minutes. We’ve also made error handling more reliable.
- Cancelled converges: We fixed an issue where converge commands could not be cancelled from the Converge event feed. Going forward, these commands can be canceled from the General event feed.
-
Esper Agent updates:
- Added support for the new Launchable but hidden app state in the Android Esper agent.
- Added actionable error messaging for app state errors.
- When a system app is uninstalled, it is now automatically hidden and no longer displayed in the Android Esper agent.
- Added support for app layout size.
- Rare Google sync issue: We fixed a rare issue where Google Enterprise data didn’t sync properly with some tenants, causing an error Enterprise is not enrolled to EMM message in Apps > Google Play. We’ve fixed this issue, so the data should sync correctly.
- Timed out URLs for Google Play for Work: Some tenants were facing problems enrolling in Google Play for Work due to an error stating that the signup URL had expired. Google signup URLs were only valid for 30 minutes, so any URL generated earlier than that became invalid. This is fixed now, so signup URLs should work as intended.
We’re excited to launch DevRel 164 over the coming days, and the Esper team is hard at work on the next release. Please contact Esper Support to share your thoughts on how Esper can improve future releases.
