Note: Some tenants will have version 8.6.1255. All features included in this release will be available on either version.
Bug Fixes and Improvements
- Cancel System commands: You now have the ability to cancel commands initiated by the System. System commands can come from a variety of sources, such as commands sent during provisioning, or those sent via an API.
- Hide nav bar command: We’ve improved the command to hide the navigation bar for devices in kiosk mode. This feature requires a Supervisor-supported device on subversor v3.3+ or a Knox-enabled device.
- Simulate Role now Impersonate Role: We’ve changed the name of the feature that lets you preview the console for Custom Roles. Its preview name was “Simulate” and it will now be known as “Impersonate” in keeping with the authentication terminology.
- VPP version fix: We fixed an issue where VPP app versions on an iOS device did not match the console version.
- Esper Agent and OTA Manager source types: We fixed an issue where the Esper Agent and Esper OTA Manager would incorrectly appear as Play Store apps from the Device > Apps page.
- Drift status fix: We fixed an issue where some devices that successfully converged would continue to show the In Drift status. Devices will now show their correct Drift status. Use the Event Feed for a detailed breakdown of the converge action.
- Templates filtering fix: We fixed an issue where devices that were upgraded to Blueprints from the Templates experience continued to appear in that template’s filter. Devices will no longer be associated with templates after an upgrade.
- Template name fix: For the Legacy Templates experience, we fixed an issue where that occurred when attempting to delete an app that was linked to a template. Previously, the template's name would appear as a number. We’ve changed this to the template’s actual name so you can actually identify it now.
- Uninstall preloaded apps UI fix: Fixed an issue that incorrectly showed Uninstall as an option for preloaded Google Play apps. As you might know, preloaded apps cannot be uninstalled, so the dropdown will now disable the Uninstall option. Want to nerd out about app source types? See our Understanding App Source Types documentation.
-
Esper Agent improvements: We’ve made the following improvements to the Android Esper Agent:
- Added improved error messages if the Esper Agent fails to get application details from the server.
- Added support for Device Name, Alias Name and Brand Logo Positioning.
- Extended support for the hideNavBarInKioskMode DpcParam to include Samsung Knox and Supervisor devices.
We’re excited to launch DevRel 165 over the coming days, and the Esper team is hard at work on the next release. Please contact Esper Support to share your thoughts on how Esper can improve future releases.
