How do I search for a device in the Esper console?
First, head to the Devices & Groups page. Then input identifying information into the search bar.
In the Device view, you can input the following information into the search bar:
- Serial number
- Device ID
- Alias name
Use filters to find devices by other identifiers such as tags, OS, versions, assigned blueprint, and more.
In the group view, you can search for groups by their names.
I have the device in front of me. How do I find it in the console?
One way to find a physical device in the console is to use its serial number. Many devices will have their serial numbers (sometimes written as S/N, Serial No, or Serial) written on the back or next to their bar codes. Enter the serial number into the search bar on the Devices & Groups page to find the device’s Esper equivalent.
If you don’t see a serial number, you can also see Android device information by accessing Esper Settings > About this Device. See how to enter Esper Settings from Kiosk Mode. For iOS devices, this information is available after launching the Esper Settings app. The iOS device may need to be in multi-app mode to display the Esper Settings app.
I see the device in the console. How do I locate it physically?
You may want to start searching for physical devices by referring to the device’s location data on the device details page.
This data is its last known location based on the device’s last check in.
If you’ve narrowed down the physical location, you can try using a Beep command to locate it. For Android devices, you can send a beep command by clicking on the ellipsis (...) and selecting Beep Device.
For an iOS device, you can click on it in Devices & Groups and click Enable Lost Mode and then click on Beep device. Learn more about enabling Lost Mode.
If your device doesn’t have sound capabilities, you can try sending other commands to verify its identity or use Esper Settings to see its About the Device information.
