There is a known issue affecting Samsung devices that updated from Android 13 to 14. This issue prevents all other buttons besides the back button from displaying in the navigation bar.
Actions affected include:
- Navigating from one app to another.
- Remote viewer and control.
- Other actions that require the navigation bar.
Your device might be affected if:
- There is a new padlock icon on the device.
- The home button disappeared.
Resolving the Issue
To resolve the issue, you’ll need to agree to the prompts available from the Android launcher.
Step 1: Create a blueprint
Go to the Blueprint Manager section, press Create Blueprint.
Step 2: Select the Android launcher
In the Apps and Configuration section, select Android Launcher and set it to Always Apply.
Then, save and publish the blueprint.
Step 3: Converge devices
In Devices & Groups, select the affected devices. The, converge press Actions > Converge if selecting multiple devices or ellipsis (...) > Converge if selecting one device.
If selecting multiple devices:
If selecting one device:
Then select the blueprint and Change & Converge.
You can choose to immediately or schedule a converge.
Step 4: Agree to the prompts
Once the devices converge to the blueprint, the default Android screen should appear. On the device, agree to the Experience Samsung services prompts.
Step 5: Select the Esper Launcher
After the prompts are agreed to, create a new blueprint with your desired device behavior.
Or, use the previous blueprint and be sure to switch the launcher back to Esper if it’s part of your desired state.
Then, converge devices to the desired blueprint. The navigation bar should function normally once again.
To resolve the issue, you’ll need to agree to the prompts available from the Android launcher. This will mean you will need to re-provision the device. Consider upgrading to Blueprints, which will allow you to set the Android launcher without needing to reprovision your device.
Step 1: Factory reset the affected device
Perform a factory reset, either from the console or from the device. See Removing a Device for more information.
Step 2: Create a template
In Apps, select Advanced Settings.
Then select Android Launcher.
Then save the new template.
Step 3: Provision the device with the new template
Provision the device with the template.
Step 4: Agree to the prompt
On the device, agree to the Experience Samsung services prompts.
Step 5: Factory reset and apply the previous template
After agreeing to the prompt, factory reset the device and provision it with the previous template.
This workaround is temporary. Samsung is aware of this issue and we'll update this article once a resolution is provided.
