Samsung Smart Switch helps transfer supported content between Samsung devices. On a managed device, it may display “Security policy restricts use of Smart Switch.” This guide explains how to enable Smart Switch through its managed configuration so the app opens without that message.
To allow Smart Switch, approve and add the app in the Esper Console, enable Allow SmartSwitch Run in its managed configuration, apply the configuration to the device’s blueprint, and converge the blueprint.
Requirements
- Access to the Esper Console with permission to manage apps and blueprints.
- Samsung Smart Switch Mobile available in the Play Store app catalog.
Configure Smart Switch
- In the Esper Console, go to Apps.
- Select Play Store.
- Search for Smart Switch, and select Samsung Smart Switch Mobile.
- Click Select and Approve. Then open Manage Configurations.
- Under Managed Configurations, enter a Configuration Name.
- Turn on Allow SmartSwitch Run, then save the configuration.
Apply the Configuration to the Blueprint
- In Blueprints Manager, open the blueprint assigned to the affected device.
- Under Apps & Configuration, add Samsung Smart Switch Mobile if it is not already present, and set the app state to Show.
- Then save and publish the blueprint.
Converge and Validate
- Converge the blueprint on the affected device.
- Check the device's Event Feed to verify the blueprint status.
- Once the blueprint is converged successfully, launch the Samsung Smart Switch on the device.
Troubleshooting
Smart Switch still displays the security policy message
Confirm that Allow SmartSwitch Run is on, the saved configuration is assigned to Smart Switch in the correct blueprint, and the app is set to Show. Check the device Event Feed for failed app installation or blueprint convergence events. Resolve any reported failure, converge the blueprint again, and retry Smart Switch.
