Esper Agent Version: 8.4.1098
Updated: May 15, 2025
New Features
- Manage iOS Preloaded Apps: You now have the ability to selectively disable or show the apps that come preloaded on your iOS devices. In a blueprint, set Hide Preloaded Apps to Ignore to achieve granular control of the apps that come preloaded on your iPad or iPhone. Some apps, such as Phone and Settings, may not be impacted by this setting.
- Default Provisioning for iOS Devices: When you provision an iOS device on a Default Blueprint, all preloaded apps will now be disabled except for Camera, App Store, Esper Settings, and System Settings. If you need specific apps to appear at the time of provisioning, register the device’s serial number with the Seamless Provisioning method.
-
Remote Viewer Improvements: We’ve made several improvements to Remote Viewer. Android Devices on Esper Agent version 8.4+ will receive:
- Android 15 support: We’ve optimized the viewer for Android 15 devices. Users can now stop an ongoing session from the device-side.
- Faster connection speed: Based on our observations, the remote viewer should now connect to devices three to four times faster when on a reliable connection.
- Improved robustness and error handling.
-
New section Activity Feed: We've also introduced the Activity Feed to keep track of remote viewer events. Android devices with agent v. 8.4+ will now have their sessions logged in the Activity Feed. Devices with lower Esper agent versions will continue to have their sessions logged in the Event Feed. Going forward, more device events will be added to the Activity Feed, so stay tuned!
- Simulate custom roles: Curious about the sections and actions available in custom roles? You can now simulate the custom role user’s experience. See the console as that user would see it. Check it out now in Custom Roles. Keep in mind that any changes made during this simulation will affect the tenant even after exiting the role preview.
Bug Fixes and Improvements
- Improved the way device UUIDs are created. We made this change to make Device ID generation more efficient and faster, although you might not notice unless you are registering a very large amount of devices at once.
- We’ve cleaned up the device command queue for device removal to make commands more efficient for your active iOS devices.
- We now have clearer messaging in the Event Feed for the availability of older events. Older event data may no longer be available after 14 days, but you should still see the command state.
- We fixed an issue with the Safari browser which would sometimes prevent user deletion.
- We fixed an issue where some timezones did not appear.
We’re excited to launch DevRel 163 over the coming days, and the Esper team is hard at work on the next release. Please contact Esper Support to share your thoughts on how Esper can improve future releases.
