Organize your devices into Groups. By organizing your devices into Groups, you can manage settings and applications for any number of devices. This article describes how to manage groups. See Adding a Device to a Group for more information about what happens when a blueprint is linked to a group.

Adding Groups
Navigate to the Devices & Groups section of the console. Then click Add and choose New Group.
On the modal, enter the group details.
From the drop-down, select the Parent Group or the Directory for this newly created group.
You can upload an image for the group or select an image from the Esper library.
Enter the group name and the description and click Create.
You will be navigated into the newly created group, where you can add subgroups or devices to the created group.
To delete a group, click the ellipsis (in list: group view) corresponding to the group and choose delete. You can delete a group only when it does not have any onboarded devices.You can add device subgroups at any level based on the structure of your nested groups.
Step 1: Identify the parent group to which you wish to create a new subgroup.
Step 2: Hover over the identified group to see the + icon and click on it.
Step 3: Enter the name of the group and click on the Add Group button.
A toast message at the bottom will indicate success or failure to create a group. If the new group is created successfully, it will be displayed under the specified parent group.
Deleting Groups
You can delete any group except the “All devices” system group. Deleting a device group will not delete the devices or subgroups inside the group, but move all the subgroups and devices under the immediate parent of the deleted group. If the deleted group does not have any parent, then the devices will move under the system parent group “All devices”.
Step 1: Identify the group you wish to delete from the left pane of the ‘Devices & Groups’ screen.
Step 2: Click on the ellipsis button, and then select "Delete Group".
Step 2: On hover, click on the ellipsis icon to see more actions.
Step 3: Click the Delete option. You will get a message to confirm the delete action.
Step 4: On confirmation of the message, your group will be deleted and you will receive a success toast message.
Renaming a Group
Step 1: Locate the group
Go to Devices & Groups and select the group you wish to rename. Then click on the ellipsis (...) and select Edit Group Details.
Step 2: Edit the name
Then proceed to edit the group's name.
Once you are done, click on Update.
You can rename any device group except the “All devices” group.
Step 1: Identify the group you wish to rename.
Step 2: On hover, click the ellipsis icon to see more actions.
Step 3: Select the rename option and enter the new name in the ‘Rename Group’ popup. Once done, click on the Rename Group button.
Step 4: On success/failure, a toast message is displayed.
