Ping
Esper-managed devices continuously communicate with our Cloud and update their statuses every fifteen minutes. Select the Ping option to accomplish the same task manually.
Screen Lock
When you select Screen Lock, the Esper Console will send the command to lock the screen of all the devices in the group. You can lock your device screen whenever you notice any suspicious activity.
Reboot
When you click Reboot, the Esper Console will send the command to reboot a device. You can reboot your device if you are having trouble communicating with the device.
Send Message
Send a message to the devices in the group.
Enter the following details:
- Broadcast message subject: The message's subject.
- Broadcast message: The message body.
- Link: An optional link. A web browser app, such as Chrome, must be in the Show state for the link to redirect the user.
- Message end date and time: To send the message instantly, set an end date. All devices that check in with Esper before the end date will receive the message. You can also set the time relative to the console time or the device time.
- Schedule delivery: An option to schedule message delivery.
- Start date: When you enable scheduled delivery, you can set the start date and time. The start date and time will need to be before the end date and time.
When you select the 'Schedule Delivery' checkbox, you will be prompted to enter the start date and the time to correspond with the console time zone or the device time zone.
Click Send Message when you are ready to send the message. Click Cancel to go back to the Group screen.
Remove Registration
Only for devices that were seamlessly provisioned. Remove the device from Esper if the device is in a registered state. For all other states, including the provisioned state this action removes the seamless status of a device.
Change Blueprint
Change the devices' assigned blueprint.
Converge
Converge a device to its latest blueprint.
Remove Device
Users will have the option to remove devices from the Esper Dashboard and Factory Reset the Device. See Removing Devices from the Console for more information.
Cancelling Group Commands
Cancel Converge, Install, and Unintall
If you deploy to a group of devices that haven’t connected to the Esper console in a while, you can cancel that command from the Activity Feed.
Types of Group actions that can be cancelled:
- Converge
- Install
- Uninstall
To cancel Group actions, go to the Activity Feed. Find the action you want to cancel.
Press Cancel to open the modal.
Press Cancel All to cancel all queued actions for the group. Alternatively, press Cancel next to each device to cancel device commands individually.
Only supported devices with a command in the queued state may be cancelled. Commands may transition from the queued status before the cancel command can reach it. The cancel command is not always guaranteed.
The commands will be cancelled.
It may take some the status to update for groups with hundreds or thousands of devices. You may need to check back later, or check an individual device’s Event Feed to see its status.
When cancelling an App Management command, go to the App Management modal.
Under History, click on Results > View.
Then cancel from the modal.
Cancel Other Group Commands
Other group commands can be cancelled from the Event Feed. Click on the number of devices to open the modal. Only supported commands in the queued state may be cancelled. If there are multiple operating systems in the group, only the supported operating system may be cancelled.
Then cancel each command one at a time.
Cancel group commands for devices that are unlikely to check in with the console.
