Download a List of Templates and Policies
First, take note of the blueprints and compliance policies applied to your test devices. If you've added your test devices to a group, you'll be able to download a CSV file with this information.
All visible columns will download in a list view, so be sure that the Template Name and Policy Name columns are included. Click on the gear icon to customize these columns if you don't see them.
Create Blueprints from Templates and Policies
We’ve made it easy to copy over your template and compliance policy information from a blueprint.
First, go to the Blueprints Manager section and click on the Create Blueprint dropdown. Select Create Blueprint from Template.
Select the blueprint and compliance policy.
You’ll then review the blueprint.
Most settings, such as launchers, apps, etc, should carry over. Compliance Policy settings will take precedence over Template settings where applicable. However, the blueprint will also offer new settings that were not available in Templates.
Blueprints also allow you to select when to apply these settings.
- Always Apply: Always apply the setting. This gives you the most control over the setting and how it functions on the device. Compliance Policy settings will be set to Always Apply.
- Provisioning Only: Apply the setting when the device is first added to Esper. This mimics the behavior of our legacy Templates experience. Since the devices you’ll be upgrading are already provisioned, you probably WON'T need to select this setting. Template settings will be set to Provision Only.
- Ignore: Ignore the setting and let the user have control of it. In some cases, admins may want users to control volume and brightness settings.
For a full list of settings, see Creating a Blueprint.
After reviewing the settings, Save the blueprint.
You'll want to create as many blueprints as there are variations of templates and compliance policies. After you've created these blueprints, it's time to upgrade.
