After verifying that the device is compatible, the final steps are to flash Foundation and provision the device.
In this article:
Flashing Foundation
After you’ve tested the device and shared the result with your Esper representative, they will provide you with a Foundation build. Use the same method you used to flash the generic system image.
After flashing Foundation, complete the test suite once again.
Once you’ve confirmed that the device has installed Foundation and its features are intact, complete the provisioning process to add the device to the Esper console.
Provisioning the Device
If Foundation was baked into the device, you’ll simply need to register the device serial numbers with Esper and power it on.
If not, follow the steps below.
Before the device can be added to Esper, you’ll need to register it, onboard it, and then provision it. When you register it, you add its serial number to the Esper console. Onboarding adds the device itself to the Esper console. Once onboarded, a device is considered provisioned once a blueprint is added to it (onboarding and provisioning take place simultaneously in this case). Fully provisioned devices are ready to be managed by Esper.
- Connect your device to the internet.
- Take note of the EEA prefixed serial number displayed in the bottom left-hand corner of your device.
- Add the serial number to the Esper console. Learn how to add serial numbers. For large-scale deployments, contact your account manager.
- After registering the device, click the back button on the device or reboot it to start the provisioning process.
- Your device should now be registered, onboarded, and provisioned. We highly recommend running the tests outlined in the Foundation test suite and sharing the results with your Esper representative.
