This article provides tips and best practices when troubleshooting provisioning issues.
Device Already Managed
If you can't find the factory reset setting, you might not have the proper permissions to reset the device. This might mean the device is already provisioned through Esper or a different platform.
Additionally, if you receive an error during provisioning that states the device is already managed, the device may be enrolled with a different device management service. Be sure to fully remove the device from the previous service to provision the device.
Restarting or Changing Wi-Fi During Provisioning
Use the Onboarding Utility Window to reboot or change the device's Wi-Fi.
Enterprise Applications and Google Play Protect
If you plan to use the Esper Cloud to install your own Enterprise applications, we recommend not enabling Google Play Protect to prevent your applications from being blocked. You also don’t need to report the Esper agent application to Google Play Protect.
Notifications
- Occasionally, the device ships with a custom launcher application in ROM. In that case, you’ll get a popup to choose an application as the Home application. Choose Esper, select Always.
- You may also encounter notifications to improve location accuracy. Agreeing to use these services means you are passing your location data to a third party. While you typically need to accept end-user licensing agreements (EULAs) in order for the device to function, optional choices regarding diagnostic data and additional services are frequently presented. You should evaluate the tradeoff based on your specific use case and decide accordingly - we typically recommend declining these services.
