Customizing Views and Filters

Organize devices or groups by switching the views, tables, or filters. You can customize which columns appear in the list, reorder and freeze them, and apply filters to narrow the list to a specific set of devices.

Advanced View

Organize the device list to show the columns and devices that matter for your workflow.

Customizing List View Columns

While in the Devices & Groups view, and when no devices are selected, click Actions > Customize List to open the Customize List View window.

In this window, you can:

• Search for a column. Use the search bar to find a column by name instead of scrolling the full list.
• Show or hide a column. Check a column's checkbox to add it to the list. Uncheck it to remove it. Device Name can never be hidden. Alias can be shown alongside it, but Device Name always remains visible.
• Reorder columns. Click and hold the drag handle (the six dots) to the left of a column name, then drag it to a new position.

• Freeze columns. Click the lock icon next to a column to keep it fixed in place while scrolling horizontally. You can freeze up to three columns at a time.

• Reset to default. Click Reset to default to return the column list to its original configuration.
• Select all. Check Select All to add every available column to the list.

Resizing Columns

To widen or shorten a column, hover over the border between two column headers until the resize cursor appears, then drag left or right.

Available Columns

The Unified View organizes columns into the following: default columns, device attributes, hardware and network, status, blueprint and policy, and OS.

Applying Filters

Filters let you narrow the device list to a specific subset of devices. The filter bar sits above the device list and includes: OS, Last Seen, Managed By, Blueprints, Templates, and + More Filters.

Once you apply one or more filters, the button for that filter category stays visible in the toolbar (for example, Device Properties, Device Status, Policies, or Battery) so you can adjust it again without reopening + More Filters. Click Clear All to remove every applied filter at once.

OS

Filter by the device's system version: Android Version, iOS Version (also includes iPadOS versions), Linux Version, or Windows Version. Expand a platform to select specific versions, or check Select All to include every platform.

Last Seen

Filter by how recently a device checked in. Select a last seen tag or date range: choose Less than or Greater than, then click Apply.

Managed By

Filter by management type: Blueprint or Template (Legacy).

Blueprints

Filter by the blueprint applied to the device. Search for and select one or more blueprints to filter by. The list shows all blueprints in your tenant.

Templates (Legacy)

Filter by the template applied to the device. Search for and select one or more templates to filter by. The list shows all blueprints in your tenant.

More Filters

Click + More Filters to access additional filter categories:

• Battery Percentage
• Policies
• Device Properties
• Device States
• Group Name
• Tags
• Security Status

Selecting one of these adds it as its own button in the filter bar.

Battery Percentage

This feature is available for: ✓ Android

Set a Minimum value and Maximum value (0 to 100) to filter devices by battery level.

Device Properties

Filter by the device type and, for Android devices, the network type.

Device type:

• Supports GMS Services: These devices have access to the Google Play Store.
• Non GMS: These devices don't have access to the Google Play Store.
• ABM: These Apple devices are in Apple Business Manager.
• Non-ABM: These Apple devices aren't in Apple Business Manager.

Network type (this feature is available for: ✓ Android):

• LTE (Cellular)
• Ethernet
• Wi-Fi
• Other

Device Status

Filter by the device's provisioning state:

• Provisioned: A device that was added to Esper and has a blueprint assigned to it.
• Registered: For seamlessly provisioned devices, this is the step when the device checks in with Esper Cloud. For all other devices, this is the first step the device takes when it starts provisioning with Esper.
• Onboarded: A device that has registered with the Esper console, or received the Esper Agent software, but is not yet provisioned.
• Onboarding In Progress: A brief state to track when the device is added to Esper.
• Others: Intermediary states.

Policies (Legacy)

The compliance policy assigned to the device.

Group Name

Filter by the group the device belongs to.

Tags

Filter by the tags assigned to the device.

Security Status

This feature is available for: ✓ Android

Filter by the device's security risk level:

• No Risk
• Low Risk
• Medium Risk
• High Risk
• Undetermined Risk

Basic View

The Directory allows you to manage the nested architecture and oversee your fleet status using a variety of views. You can freely move between views by selecting it from the top right side of your screen.

Each view provides different benefits depending on your use case.

• The grid views offer a compact, high-level view of your entire fleet, broken down by Parent-level Groups.
• The List views provide a more detailed view of your Parent Groups and nested Subgroups.
  • List views also allow you to fire commands to Groups or individual devices without having to separately navigate to each device.

Directory-level

The top section for all the views at the Directory-level displays a summary of the entire fleet. The "Show More" link will display the most recent devices in each category.

Views available at the Directory level:

• List: This is the default view. It shows your devices, starting with their Esper IDs. You can customize the columns by clicking on Views > Customize List View.
• Grid: This view is useful for working with groups. It provides an overview of the groups, their devices, and subgroups. You will see the parent groups as tiles.

Each Parent Group tile provides an overview of the devices and subgroups within it, and provides quick shortcuts to onboard new devices, add, view, or edit the group's Blueprint.

• List for Groups: This view displays a list of all the groups, including nested subgroups. It gives you specific details about the devices and allows more actions to be performed.
• List for Devices: This detailed view lists devices individually, highlighting their onboarding and online status, as well as organizational information, like group names and tags. Click the device ID to go to the Device details section.

Parent Group and Sub-groups

Each view at the Parent-level and the sub-group level displays the summary of the number of devices and the subgroups. It also displays the description if added while creating the group. You can scan the QR code to onboard a device to this Parent Group. You can also add, edit, and view a Blueprint.

Parent-level and sub-groups have the same view as the Directory level with one addition: Customize List View.

Customize List View

This view allows you to choose your custom display for listing the devices. You can choose different columns to display here based on your use case.

You can add the following columns to the Devices & Groups directory. Some data will be updated when the device checks in. Other data won't change or will only change because of console actions.

Templates View

In the Devices & Groups section, we provide three different views. You can switch between these views by clicking the three lines in the device pane of the Device & Groups screen.

You can view the devices in the following views:

• Grid view: This view allows you to see the devices as icons.

• Maps view: This view allows you to see the location of the device on the map.

• List view: This is the default view. The devices are displayed as rows in this view.

Customizing List View Tables

Device List View has more customization options available. To customize, click the Table Settings icon shown in the diagram below. This icon is available on the Devices & Groups screen.

You can control the table density to fit more or fewer items in the list view. Also, you can add or remove the device attribute columns.

Applying Filters to View Selected Devices

Filters in the Device & Groups section allow you to group devices by OS, blueprint, tags, and so on.

Once you select the filter parameters, click Apply to update the view. Custom filters are stored locally via browser caching. Your selected preferences will be applied automatically when you return to this page unless you update your preferences or clear your cache. You can return to the unfiltered view by clicking Reset.
