Commands
Why is there a five minute delay for reboot commands?
This is part of Windows behavior. When a reboot is initiated, the device user will receive a prompt on the screen informing them that the device will reboot. After five minutes, the reboot will begin.
App Management
Can I use a custom installer to uninstall a .msi app?
Some MSI applications use custom uninstallers. Custom uninstallers aren’t supported through the uninstall command. However, you can use a custom script to uninstall these apps.
Blueprints
Kiosk Mode
I set the device to kiosk mode via the blueprint and the device converged successfully. However, nothing happened.
When you converge a device to kiosk mode, a new “Kiosk” user account is created. You will need to sign into the Kiosk account to activate kiosk mode.
I set the device to multi-app mode after it was previously in kiosk mode. However, nothing happened, and the device is still in kiosk mode.
You'll need to exit the kiosk account. Use any of the following options:
- You can send a lock screen command and log into the multi-app mode profile from the device or through a remote viewer session.
- Press CTRL + ALT + DEL to switch profiles from the device's keyboard.
- Click on the Windows button to switch profiles.
- Reboot the device and log into the profile.
What types of apps can I use for kiosk mode?
Only .MSI apps in the console Apps section can be used for Kiosk Mode.
I see a popup that says “This app has been blocked by your administrator” when logging into a new user.
This is a known issue with Windows “assigned access mode” which facilitates kiosk mode. You may need to wait a few moments before the system continues.
Can I use the remote viewer when a Windows device is in Kiosk mode?
As of February 2026, you can now use Remote Viewer while a Windows device is in kiosk mode.
Wallpaper
I set the wallpaper in the blueprint and converged the device. However, I still don’t see the wallpaper on the device.
For the home screen, you’ll see the change on the next sign in or reboot.
For the lock screen, you’ll see the change the next time the device is locked.
If you set the device to kiosk mode, you also won’t see the wallpaper until the next time you converge the device.
Wi-Fi
Why does the Wi-Fi address appear as the SSID followed by a number?
Wi-Fi settings added to the device are displayed as the first eight digits of the Wi-Fi’s ID in Esper followed by its name (for example, 12345678_andi_wifi). The name can have a maximum of 32 characters.
After the device converged, it didn’t automatically connect to the Wi-Fi network in the blueprint.
The Wi-Fi network will appear on the device. The device must be manually selected to connect to it. You can use a Remote Viewer session to connect the device.
Additionally, if the Settings page was opened on the device when this happened, you may need to reopen it for the new Wi-Fi network to appear.
I changed the device’s blueprint, but the Wi-Fi from the previous blueprint still appears on the device.
Any previous networks added via a blueprint will appear in the Wi-Fi network for the device.
Remote Viewer
Can I launch a remote viewer setting when the device is locked?
Yes. As of February 2026, you can now view and control the device's screen while it is locked.
When I opened the Task Manager, the mouse and keyboard were disabled.
Input devices such as a mouse and keyboard will be disabled until the Task Manager is closed.
Can I run a UAC (administer) prompt on the device while in a Remote Viewer session?
Yes. As of February 2026, you can now view and control the device while a prompt is run by administrator.
Can I capture screenshots during a Remote Viewer session?
Not at this time.
