Some partners may have been provided with devices that were already provisioned. If that’s the case, this guide can serve as a review. If your device hasn't yet been provisioned, use this guide to begin managing it.
When you add a blueprint to a device, you apply a uniform set of configurations across one or, as is usually the case, many devices. Since a blueprint can be applied to more than one device, updated immediately or later, it’s the best option when it comes to creating a predictable experience across your devices.
Esper offers different ways to provision a device. This guide walks through the QR code method, but there are other methods as well.
If you’re not sure which method to choose, reach out to your Esper contact from your onboarding email and see our provisioning methods documentation for instructions on each method.
Now that your device is prepared and your blueprint is ready, navigate to the Provisioning Methods section.
Select your device type:
- Android
- iOS
- Linux
Then select your provisioning method. For testing things out, we’re going to use the QR code method, but use the method suggested by your Esper contact if you already have one.
Be sure you’re on the Blueprint tab and select the following:
- Provisioning group: This step is optional. Don’t worry if you haven’t created any groups yet. You can always move your devices around later.
- Provisioning blueprint: Select the blueprint we created in Step 2.
- Provisioning Wi-Fi: This step is optional. Some methods allow you to set up Wi-Fi at this step, but you can leave this blank.
Then, on your device, tap on the screen six times to open the QR code reader. You’ll only be able to access this screen after the device is reset.
Your device may need to connect to Wi-Fi and go through a few more set-up steps.
Once it’s set up, you’ll be able to see it in the console by navigating to Devices & Groups.
