Transfer files, such as certificates or menus, to a Group of devices. You’ll also be able to specify the file path in the device in the case that it has an SD card. Use Esper to transfer a file to many devices at once.

Uploading a File to the Console
Before you can send files to devices, you’ll need to upload them to the Console. To get started, go to Content Management and click on Upload File.
Then select the file you’d like to upload by dragging it or browsing for it.
You may upload as many files as you want so long as they don’t exceed the file size limit.
Once uploaded, the files will appear in the Content Management list.
Transferring a File to a Device or Group
Once you’ve uploaded a file to the Console, you’ll be able to transfer it to devices or Groups. Locate the file in Content Management and click on the ellipsis (...) at the end of the row. Then click Transfer.
You can optionally create a new file (and new path) by editing the Path text. You’ll need read and write permissions to do this. Then press Transfer.
The files will be transferred to every device specified as long as they are communicating with Esper.
Tips on File Transfer Paths
Transferring to Internal or Removable Storage
You can transfer files to internal storage or to a removable storage device such as an SD card. All the removable storage devices will have a unique eight-character ID. You will need to add a prefix "ESPER_EXTERNAL" if the ID is not known.
You can append the path with the "forced/" keyword (example:"forced/storage/emulated/0/Esper/NewFolder/"), which will ask users permission for that directory (if the directory exists). On granting access, the files will be saved anywhere in internal storage, public directories, and removable storage.
You can push files to multiple SD cards at the same time using the scheme format (scheme: path).
E.g. internal://download/Esper/Notes in this, the scheme internal translates to: /storage/emulated/0.
Esper uses the following schemes:
- internal- Translates to: /storage/emulated/0
- external- Translates to: /storage/SD-card ID
- forced_internal- Translates to: /storage/emulated/0
- orced_external- Translates to: /storage/SD-card ID
- esper_internal- Translates to: /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/io.shoonya.shoonyadpc/files - esper_external- Translates to: /storage/3M110ECD/Android/data/io.shoonya.shoonyadpc/files

Transferring to the Correct File Path
Files paths vary from device to device. If you are having trouble sending a file to a device, you can use the Console to look up a suggested file path.
First, while in Content Management, transfer a file to a device. Use the default path.
Next, open the ⓘ Activity Feed located in the top right corner of the Content Management screen.
Then click on View Results.
You’ll see that an alert appears in one of the following categories:
- Success
- Failure
Don’t see an alert in these categories? Try refreshing the page and waiting for a moment.
If the alert is in the Success tab, you can use the default path to send files to your device. This default path should work in the Console, in the API, and other Esper tools for that device.
If the alert appears in the Failed tab, hover over the Reason message. A file path suggestion will appear. Copy the file path and use that path to transfer files to devices.
Checking the File Activity Feed
To see the status of a transfer in the Activity Feed, click on the information icon (ⓘ) on the upper right-hand corner of the Content Management screen.
A slide-out from the right will show you the status of each transfer.
Click on the View results link to see more details.
