Introduction to Provisioning Templates

Templates are a legacy feature. It may not be available for all customers. New features, such as iOS compatibility, are not available on Templates. 

Overview

Provisioning Templates give you a straightforward way to enroll and provision multiple devices. They allow you to create templates for devices to create a uniform experience with applications, device settings, and commands.

Once a device has been provisioned with a Template, updating the Template won't update the template for a device. However, a Compliance Policy can be applied to achieve this behavior.

Provisioning Templates are displayed as tiles with the most-recently created at the top under Provisioning Templates. You can arrange them in ascending or descending alphabetical order. You can also sort the templates with the recently modified template at the top. You can find templates by name using the Search Templates feature.

You can access the QR Code for a specific template during Android Enterprise or 6 Tap QR Code provisioning by clicking on View QR Code.

Be careful when sharing the QR code as in some cases Wi-Fi access point credentials are included, and anyone with it can enroll a supported Android device into your fleet. In cases where distributing a QR code outside of your organization is required, consider using Android Enterprise IMEI/Serial Number provisioning with a passcode.
