You’re using Esper today because you or someone at your organization needs to manage their devices at scale.
To start using Esper for device management, you’ll need to prepare your devices. We recommend using one device to start things off, preferably one that's not being used as a personal device.
The process may be slightly different depending on the device's operating system, so be sure to click on the appropriate tab to understand the steps.
Your reset option is typically in System Settings. You’ll need to fully wipe the device and erase all data on it. Consult your manufacturer for the exact steps.
If you want to use Google Play Store Apps
If you want to use apps from the Google Play Store on your devices, you’ll need to:
- Make sure your devices are Google Mobile Services (GMS) compatible
- Subscribe to EMM
- Approve Google Play Apps in Esper
Do this before creating a blueprint.
Before preparing your device, prepare your tenant for iOS devices. In Introduction to iOS Management, we go over how to set up your tenant and how to prepare and onboard devices.
See the Introduction to Linux article for device requirements and provisioning information.
See Introduction to Windows for device requirements and set up steps.
After onboarding your devices, you can continue with this guide.
Once it's ready for Esper, it's time prepare your first blueprint.
Other Steps to Prepare a Device:
- You may need to remove it from previous management systems if it was part of one before.
- If you have a corporate firewall, add Esper URLs to your network.
