Device stuck in Esper Home Launcher after switching default launcher to system launcher: reboot required, workaround unresolved
Android
If your device continues to launch Esper Home Launcher even after you've applied a Blueprint change to switch to the system default launcher and rebooted the device, follow these troubleshooting steps.
Before you begin
Verify that you have:
- Applied a Blueprint configured to use the Android system default launcher instead of Esper Home Launcher
- Rebooted the device after the Blueprint was applied
- Waited for the device to fully boot and reconnect to Esper
Step 1: Check Blueprint convergence status
- In the Esper Console, go to Devices & Groups → [Your Device] → Blueprint
- Confirm that the Blueprint shows as fully applied/converged, not pending or partially applied
- If the Blueprint is still pending, wait for convergence to complete and reboot the device again
Step 2: Collect diagnostic information
If the Blueprint shows as converged but the Esper launcher still opens by default, collect the following information:
- Device information: Go to Devices & Groups → [Your Device] → Device Info and note the device model, Android version, and Esper Esper Agent version
-
Esper Agent logs: Connect your device via ADB and run:
Filter the logs for launcher and Esper Agent entries around the time you applied the Blueprint and rebootedadb shell logcat -d > dpc_logs.txt - Screen recording: Record the full sequence starting from applying the Blueprint, rebooting the device, and showing which launcher opens on boot
- Bug report: In the Esper Console, go to Devices & Groups → [Your Device] → Actions → Request Bug Report
Step 3: Verify the issue is reproducible
Test whether this issue occurs on other devices in the same device group with the same Blueprint. If multiple devices are affected, this may indicate a broader compatibility issue.
Still need help?
If the launcher issue persists after the Blueprint converges and a device reboot, or if you've confirmed the issue occurs on multiple devices, contact Esper Support. include:
- Device model, Android version, and Esper Esper Agent version
- The Esper Agent logs collected via ADB
- A screen recording of the full sequence (Blueprint apply → reboot → launcher behavior)
- The bug report from the device
