Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 (SM-T500) reports no internet connectivity: ticket closed without resolution — data collection checklist for future recurrence
Android
If your Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 (SM-T500) is not connecting to the internet, follow this guide to diagnose and resolve the issue. This tablet connects only through Wi-Fi, so all connectivity depends on a working wireless connection.
Before you begin
Gather the following information before troubleshooting:
- Your Esper tenant URL (format:
xxxxx.esper.cloud) - Device ID or Esper alias from Devices & Groups → [Device Name] → Device Info
- Esper Agent version from Devices & Groups → [Device Name] → Device Info → Agent Version
- A screenshot or video showing the connectivity error on the device and the device status in the Esper Console
Step 1: Check device status in the Esper Console
- In the Esper Console, navigate to Devices & Groups → [Device Name].
- Note whether the device shows as Offline or Online.
- Determine whether the issue is a Wi-Fi association failure (device not connected to any network) or a connectivity failure (device connected to Wi-Fi but unable to reach the internet).
Step 2: Verify the Wi-Fi Blueprint settings
- Navigate to Blueprints → [Applied Blueprint] → Network Settings → Wi-Fi.
- Confirm that the SSID, security type, and passphrase are correct.
- If you find incorrect settings, update them and re-apply the Blueprint to the device.
Step 3: Check for network restrictions
- Navigate to Blueprints → [Applied Blueprint] → Device Settings.
- Verify whether the Wi-Fi toggle or network configuration changes are locked.
- If network settings are locked and this is preventing connectivity, adjust the policy as needed.
Step 4: Test Wi-Fi connection on the device
If the device is physically accessible:
- On the device, disable Wi-Fi and then re-enable it.
- Attempt to connect manually to a known working Wi-Fi network.
- If possible, open a web browser and verify internet access outside of kiosk mode.
- Check whether the device status in Devices & Groups changes from Offline to Online.
- Confirm that the last check-in timestamp updates within 2–3 minutes.
Step 5: Collect device logs (if device is reachable via ADB)
If you have ADB access to the device, run the following command to pull network-related logs:
adb shell logcat -d | grep -i "network\|wifi\|connectivity\|esper"
Share these logs when contacting support.
Step 6: Perform a remote reboot
If the device remains unreachable after the steps above:
- Navigate to Devices & Groups → [Device Name] → Actions → Reboot.
- Wait 5 minutes for the device to restart and reconnect.
- Check whether the device status changes to Online.
Additional troubleshooting
Device associates with Wi-Fi but cannot reach the internet:
- Check Blueprint settings for proxy or VPN configuration that may be blocking internet access.
- Verify that the network does not require a captive portal login.
- If your network uses a VLAN or DHCP scope, confirm these are configured correctly on your network infrastructure.
Multiple devices on the same network have the same issue:
- This may indicate a network infrastructure problem rather than a device issue.
- Check your network VLAN configuration and DHCP scope availability.
Persistent connectivity drops on this device:
- Samsung One UI includes Wi-Fi power-saving and adaptive Wi-Fi features that can intermittently disconnect from networks.
- These features should be disabled via Blueprint settings or ADB if disconnections continue.
Still need help?
