Status bar / notification panel expansion cannot be re-enabled via dpcParams on Samsung Knox-managed devices

If you're trying to re-enable the status bar or notification panel on your Samsung Knox-managed device through Esper, you may find that the statusBarExpansionDisabled parameter doesn't work as expected. This article explains why and shows you an alternative way to give your users access to Wi-Fi controls.

Why status bar expansion can't be re-enabled via Esper AgentParams

The statusBarExpansionDisabled key is not a supported parameter in Esper's dpcParams configuration. Esper currently supports only five dpcParams keys:

• wifiRevertTimeout
• multipleLauncherActivities
• bluetoothAutoEnableTimeOut
• nonSuspendableLaunchersList
• uploadAllPackages

Any unsupported keys are silently ignored and have no effect. Additionally, if you're using the Esper Agent Launcher, the status bar is intentionally suppressed as part of the kiosk enforcement model. Switching launchers will not restore notification panel access.

How to give users Wi-Fi access without the notification panel

Instead of trying to re-enable the status bar, you can surface the Esper Settings panel on your device, which includes Wi-Fi controls.

1. In the Esper Console, navigate to the relevant Blueprint.
2. Go to Blueprint → Esper Settings.
3. Enable the Esper Settings option to make the settings panel available on the device.
4. Apply the Blueprint by going to Blueprint → Apply.
5. Instruct your users to open the Esper Settings panel on the device to toggle Wi-Fi on or off.

Verify the Esper Settings panel is working

On the device, confirm that users can open the Esper Settings panel and toggle Wi-Fi without needing to access the native Android notification panel.

If the Esper Settings panel does not appear after the Blueprint converges, check that the Blueprint applied successfully by navigating to Devices & Groups → [Device Name] → Blueprint in the Esper Console.
