APK uploader identity cannot be retrieved — Esper does not log or store application upload attribution

Esper does not currently log or store information about which user uploaded a specific APK to your tenant. This article explains this limitation and what you can do if you need to identify who uploaded an application.

Understand this limitation

When you or another user uploads an APK to Apps & Games → Android Apps in the Esper Console, Esper does not record which user performed the upload. This means:

• No upload attribution data is available for applications currently in your library
• No upload attribution data is available for applications you've already deleted
• No audit trail or Activity Feed for app uploads exists in the Esper Console
• This is a platform-level limitation, not a data retention issue — the information is never captured

This limitation applies across your entire tenant and cannot be worked around using the Esper API, Console filters, or admin-level report exports.

What you can do

If you need to track who uploaded an APK to your tenant:

• For general oversight: Implement access controls and user management policies at your organization level to restrict who can upload apps to Esper
• For a specific security or compliance concern: Contact Esper Support with details about your use case. If you suspect unauthorized upload or are investigating a potential security incident, mention this when you submit your ticket
• To request this feature: Let Esper know that you need audit logging of APK upload events with associated user identity. You can mention this need when you contact Support or submit feedback through your Esper Console

Important distinction

This limitation applies only to tenant-level app library upload events. Device activity logs (such as command history on a specific device) are still recorded and available in the Esper Console.
