Esper Console "Remove Device" confirmation dialog not accepting spacebar input: clear browser cache or use private window to resolve
Android
If the "Remove Device" confirmation dialog in the Esper Console doesn't respond when you press the spacebar, your browser cache or a browser extension is likely interfering with keyboard input. Follow these steps to resolve the issue.
Before you begin
When you remove a device, you must type REMOVE DEVICE (exactly as shown, with a space, in uppercase) into the confirmation field. If the spacebar isn't working, you won't be able to complete this string.
Step 1: Clear your browser cache and cookies
- Open your browser settings.
- Find the option to clear browsing data or cache (the exact location depends on your browser).
- Clear all cached files and cookies for
console.esper.io. - Close the browser completely and reopen it.
- Navigate back to Devices & Groups → [Device Name] → Actions → Remove Device and try again.
Step 2: Test in a private or incognito window
Browser extensions often disable automatically in private browsing mode. If the spacebar works there, an extension is causing the problem.
- Open a new Incognito window (Chrome), Private window (Firefox/Edge/Safari), or equivalent private mode in your browser.
- Navigate to the Esper Console and go to Devices & Groups → [Device Name] → Actions → Remove Device.
- Try typing
REMOVE DEVICEin the confirmation field, including the spacebar. - If this works, close the private window and disable your browser extensions in your main browser profile, then retry.
Step 3: Try a different browser
If the issue persists in your primary browser after clearing the cache, test with a different supported browser such as Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.
Step 4: Verify the fix
Once you can type the full string REMOVE DEVICE (with the spacebar working), the Remove button should activate. Click it to confirm device removal.
If the issue continues after all steps
If the spacebar still doesn't work across multiple browsers and machines:
- Make sure your caps lock is on and you include the single space between the two words—the confirmation string is case-sensitive.
- Collect a HAR file while reproducing the problem. See How to Grab a HAR File for instructions.
- Contact Esper Support and share the HAR file so we can investigate further.
Still need help?
If you've tried all the steps above and the issue persists, submit a support ticket with details about which browsers you tested and whether the problem occurs in private browsing mode.
