App missing from Esper Console Play Store search — Google indexing delay

When you publish a new app to Google Play and search for it in the Esper Console, the app does not appear in results and you see the message We couldn't find anything for your search.

Why this happens

When an app is first published to Google Play — or when its metadata (name, description, keywords) is updated — Google's search index takes 24–72 hours to reflect the change. Esper Console Play Store search queries Google's index directly, so until Google completes indexing, the app is invisible to name-based searches. This is a Google-side delay; Esper has no ability to accelerate it.

Before you start

Confirm the app is genuinely live on Google Play before attempting the steps below:

Open your app's direct Play Store URL in a browser — for example, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.example.yourapp — and verify the page loads correctly.
Check your Google Play Console and confirm the release is in Production, not in a closed testing track or draft state.

Deploy your app while waiting for indexing

Choose the option that best fits your situation:

Option 1: Search by package ID

Package ID searches query the Play Store catalog directly and bypass the search index entirely.

In the Esper Console, navigate to Apps & Configuration → Play Store.
In the search field, enter the app's full package ID instead of its display name — for example, com.example.yourapp.
Select the app from the results and deploy it via a Blueprint or direct push to your target devices.

Option 2: Upload as a private app

If you have access to the APK and need to deploy immediately without waiting for Google indexing, upload it directly to Esper.

In the Esper Console, navigate to Apps & Configuration → Private Apps.
Select Upload APK and upload your APK file.
Once processing completes, deploy the app to your devices via a Blueprint or direct push. This method bypasses Google Play entirely.

Option 3: Wait for indexing to complete

If neither option above suits your workflow, wait 24–72 hours and search again by app name in Apps & Configuration → Play Store. For newly created developer accounts or first-time app submissions, indexing can occasionally take up to seven days.

Verify: After deploying via package ID or private APK upload, navigate to Devices & Groups → [Device Name] → Apps and confirm the app appears in the installed apps list with a status of Installed. If you chose to wait for indexing, a successful name-based search in Apps & Configuration → Play Store confirms indexing is complete.

If this doesn't resolve it

If the app does not appear even when searching by package ID, and you have verified it is live in Production on Google Play, contact Esper Support with the following information:

The full package ID of the app
The direct Google Play Store URL for the app
A screenshot of the app's status in your Google Play Console showing it is in Production
The date and time the app was published
