Esper Launcher blocks Gesture settings on Android 16 (Moto G 2025): switch launcher temporarily to apply settings
Android
If you're unable to configure gesture settings on your Motorola Moto G 2025 running Android 16 with Esper Launcher active, this article explains why this happens and how to work around it temporarily.
Why gesture settings aren't responding
When Esper Launcher is set as your active launcher on Android 16 devices (specifically Motorola Moto G 2025), the Gesture settings screen in Android Settings becomes unresponsive to touch input. This prevents you from configuring gesture options like the Power button behavior. This issue does not occur on older Android versions or with the default Android launcher.
Before you begin
- Confirm you're running Esper Agent v13.1.4711 or later. Check for agent updates in the Esper Console, as this may resolve the issue.
- Have access to the Esper Console and the affected device.
- Note that any gesture settings you configure will persist after you switch back to Esper Launcher.
How to configure gesture settings
- In the Esper Console, navigate to Devices & Groups → [Your Device] → Blueprint.
- Edit the Blueprint (or create a temporary one) and change the Launcher setting from Esper Launcher to Android Default Launcher (such as Google Launcher).
- Apply the updated Blueprint and wait for the device to converge.
- On your device, open Settings → Gestures and configure your desired gesture options (for example, set Power button to open the power menu).
- Return to the Blueprint in the Esper Console and change the Launcher setting back to Esper Launcher.
- Apply the Blueprint again and wait for the device to converge.
- Verify that your device is running Esper Launcher and that your gesture settings have been retained.
If the workaround doesn't work
- Settings not persisting: Switch the default launcher directly on your device by going to Settings → Apps → Default Apps → Home App instead of through the Blueprint. Configure your gesture settings, then switch back to Esper Launcher.
- Issue on other Android 16 devices: If you encounter this problem on other device models running Android 16, document the device model, Android version, and Esper Agent version and contact Esper Support.
