"No Internet" Screen Only Appears During Provisioning — Reconnect to Wi-Fi After Setup
Android
When a provisioned device loses its Wi-Fi connection, the "No Internet" screen that appeared during setup does not reappear — leaving the device offline with no obvious way to reconnect.
Why this happens
The "No Internet" screen is part of the provisioning flow only. It appears once — during QR code, Zero-Touch, or other initial setup methods — so the device can reach Esper's servers to complete enrollment. After provisioning finishes, that screen is no longer triggered by connectivity loss. Reconnecting requires a different approach depending on what your device configuration allows.
How to reconnect a provisioned device
- Try Esper Settings first. If your device configuration permits access, open Esper Settings → Network → Wi-Fi, select your network, enter the password if required, and wait for the device to reconnect. This is the fastest path when the device is physically accessible.
- Try native Android Settings if Esper Settings is unavailable. Open Settings → Network & Internet → Wi-Fi, select your network, and enter credentials if prompted. This option is only available if your Blueprint does not restrict access to Android Settings.
- Push a Wi-Fi configuration remotely from the Esper Console. If the device has intermittent connectivity, navigate to Devices & Groups → [Device Name] → Settings → Wi-Fi in the Esper Console. Add or update the network SSID and password, then save. The Esper Agent will apply the configuration the next time the device checks in. This is the correct path for devices in kiosk mode or restricted configurations where on-device settings are inaccessible to end users.
- Pre-configure all expected Wi-Fi networks in your Blueprint to prevent recurrence. In the Esper Console, go to Blueprints → Network → Wi-Fi and add each network SSID and its credentials. Apply the updated blueprint to your devices. With multiple networks pre-configured, devices will automatically connect to any available network without requiring user interaction or manual intervention.
If this doesn't resolve it
If the device is fully offline and unreachable remotely, physical access is required to restore connectivity. Before contacting support, collect the following:
- Device serial number and the name shown in Devices & Groups
- The provisioning method used (QR code, Zero-Touch, etc.)
- Whether the device is in kiosk mode and which settings are restricted in the applied blueprint
- Any error messages visible on the device screen
- A screenshot of the Activity Feed for the device showing the last known online time
Contact Esper Support with these details so the issue can be diagnosed without delay.
Still need help?
