Esper Settings "Switch to Admin Mode" password forgotten or unknown: locate credentials via Esper Settings documentation
Android
If you've forgotten the password for Switch to Admin Mode in the Esper Settings app on your managed device, you can locate it through your device's Blueprint or Device Policy settings in the Esper Console.
Before you begin
You'll need admin access to the Esper Console to view your device's Blueprint or Device Policy. The admin mode password is a device-level credential separate from your Esper Console login password.
How to find your admin mode password
- Log in to the Esper Console at https://your-tenant.esper.io with an admin account.
- Go to Devices & Groups and locate your device.
- Open the device details and navigate to the associated Blueprint or Device Policy.
- Look for the Esper Settings configuration section. The admin mode password field is typically labeled Admin Mode Password or found under settings lockdown options.
- If you don't see the password in the Blueprint or Device Policy, check with the team member who originally provisioned the device. The password may have been set during initial setup and not stored in an active policy.
How to use your admin mode password
- On your managed device, open Esper Settings.
- Tap Switch to Admin Mode.
- Enter the password you located in your Blueprint or Device Policy.
- You now have access to device-level settings (such as network or SIM card configuration).
- After you've completed your tasks, return to Esper Settings and switch back to managed mode.
If you still can't locate the password
- Check with your IT team or the device provisioner: The password may have been set as a device-level override during setup and not stored in an active Blueprint.
- Password genuinely lost: If the password cannot be recovered, the device may need to be re-provisioned. Contact Esper Support before proceeding, as re-provisioning requires a factory reset and may affect local data.
- No password was ever set: If the admin mode prompt is appearing unexpectedly and no password was configured, contact Esper Support to verify whether a default password applies at your tenant or Blueprint level.
