User Invitation Stuck in Pending After Delete-and-Re-Add — Accept via Existing Account
Android
Improved Title: Re-invited user stuck on pending — accept with existing accountWhen a user is removed from an Esper tenant and then re-invited, the invitation can appear permanently pending and block access to the Esper Console if the email address is already registered to an existing Esper account.
Why this happens
Esper ties invitations to the account type associated with your email address. If your email is already registered, clicking the invitation link lands you on an account-creation page instead of a sign-in page. Completing the sign-up flow creates a conflict rather than granting access, so the invitation never clears.
Accept the invitation using your existing account
- Open the most recent invitation email from Esper. Earlier emails contain expired links — only the latest link is valid.
- Click the Accept Invitation link in the email. Your browser will open the Esper activation page.
- Select Log In on the activation page. Do not enter any details into the sign-up or account-creation form — doing so will trigger a conflict with your existing account.
- Sign in with your existing Esper credentials (your registered email address and password).
If the invitation link does not work
- Repeat steps 1–4 in an Incognito or Private browsing window. Cached sessions from a previous login can interfere with the invitation acceptance flow and cause the link to behave unexpectedly.
- Ask your administrator to resend the invitation if the link still fails. The administrator should go to Users → Pending Invitations in the Esper Console, locate your email address, and select Resend Invitation. Once the new email arrives, repeat steps 1–4 above.
- Ask your administrator to re-create the invitation if your email address does not appear in Users → Pending Invitations at all. The administrator should go to Users → Add User, enter your email address, and send a fresh invitation. Once the new email arrives, repeat steps 1–4 above.
If this doesn't resolve it
Contact Esper Support and include the following information so your user record can be investigated without delay:
- Your email address
- Your tenant URL (for example,
yourcompany.esper.cloud) - The date and time you received the most recent invitation email
- A screenshot of any error shown after clicking the invitation link
