Pop-up prompting re-entry of lot number during print: Caused by patrol app, not Esper
Android
When a pop-up dialog appears asking you to re-enter a lot number during printing in a patrol application, the prompt interrupts the print workflow and blocks the user from completing the task.
Why this happens
Esper does not generate application-specific workflow prompts. Esper system dialogs are limited to overlays such as the kiosk launcher, provisioning screens, and device policy notifications. A prompt asking for a value like a lot number originates from the patrol application itself, not from Esper. In rare cases, a misconfigured Esper Blueprint or Managed App Configuration applied to the patrol app could cause the application to re-prompt for inputs it would otherwise retain.
Step 1: Confirm the source of the pop-up
- Reproduce the issue and capture a screenshot or screen recording of the pop-up dialog.
- Review the dialog text. If it requests application-specific information such as a lot number, the prompt is generated by the patrol app, not by Esper.
- Note the exact wording of the dialog — this will be useful information when contacting the patrol app vendor.
Step 2: Check your Esper configuration
Complete these checks before contacting the patrol app vendor to rule out any Esper-side involvement.
- Navigate to Devices & Groups → Groups → [Group Name] → Blueprint and review the active blueprint applied to the affected devices. Look for any app permission restrictions or kiosk mode settings that could be blocking the patrol app's UI flow or preventing it from storing user inputs between sessions.
- Navigate to Apps & Configuration → [Patrol App] → Managed Configuration and review any key-value pairs applied to the patrol app. A misconfigured value can cause the app to re-prompt for inputs on each session. Correct or remove any pairs that do not match the app developer's documented configuration schema.
- Find the device model and Android OS version by navigating to Devices & Groups → [Device Name] → Device Info. Record these details — they will be required if you contact either the patrol app vendor or Esper Support.
Step 3: Contact the patrol app vendor
- If the Esper configuration checks above show no issues, contact the patrol application's developer or vendor support team directly.
- Provide the vendor with:
- A screenshot or screen recording of the pop-up
- The exact steps that reproduce the issue (for example: navigating to print a notice triggers the dialog)
- The device model and Android OS version collected in Step 2
If this doesn't resolve it
If you identified a potential issue in your Esper Blueprint or Managed App Configuration, or if the patrol app vendor confirms the behavior is not caused by the application, contact Esper Support with the following information:
- A screenshot or screen recording of the pop-up
- The device model and Android OS version
- The exact steps to reproduce the issue
- The name and version of the blueprint applied to the affected devices
- A copy of the Managed App Configuration key-value pairs applied to the patrol app
- Device logs collected from Devices & Groups → [Device Name] → Activity Feed
Still need help?
If the steps above don't resolve the issue, submit a support ticket with your device model, Android version, Esper Agent version, and a description of what you've already tried — this helps the support team investigate without a follow-up.
