Kiosk Mode turned off on one device over the weekend — nothing changed in the Esper Console
Android
One of our retail kiosk devices exited Kiosk Mode at some point over the weekend. No one on our team made changes through the Esper Console. When we checked on Monday the device was showing the full Android home screen instead of our kiosk app.
The Blueprint still shows Kiosk Mode as enabled and the device is online. Re-applying the Blueprint brought it back, but we're trying to understand why this happened.
Device: Lenovo Tab M10 Plus, Android 11
Still need help?
If Kiosk Mode unexpectedly turned off without Console changes, please submit a support ticket and include the device name, the date and time it occurred, and any recent device activity logs from the Esper Console.
-
This is almost always caused by someone accessing the Esper Settings panel directly on the device and disabling Kiosk Mode manually through the Admin Mode interface.
To prevent this happening again:
- Set a strong Admin Mode PIN: Blueprint → Esper Settings → Admin Mode PIN. Set a PIN not shared with on-site staff.
- Restrict Esper Settings access: Remove the Esper Settings shortcut from the kiosk UI if staff should not have access.
