Improved title: Advanced View export returns all devices — use filters to scope results

When exporting device data from Advanced View, the downloaded file contains every device in your list, even if you selected specific devices using checkboxes before clicking export.

Why this happens

The export function in Advanced View is filter-driven, not selection-driven. Checkboxes in Advanced View scope bulk actions — such as group assignment or command dispatch — not exports. The export always reflects your active filter state, which defaults to your full device list when no filters are applied.

How to narrow your export to a specific subset of devices

1. Navigate to Devices & Groups → Advanced View.
2. Apply one or more column filters to narrow the list to your target devices. Filter by attributes such as device status, model, group, or any other available column. The device list updates in real time as you apply filters, so you can confirm the correct devices are shown before exporting.
3. Click the Export button. The downloaded file will contain only the devices that match your active filter state.

Verify: Open the exported file and confirm the row count and device attributes match what was visible in the filtered Advanced View list at the time of export. If no filters were applied, the file will contain your full device list — this is expected.

If this doesn't resolve it

If the exported file ignores your active filters and returns the complete unfiltered device list, this is a separate issue. Contact Esper Support and include:

• A screenshot showing the active filter state in Advanced View at the time of export
• The exported file demonstrating the discrepancy
• Your Esper Console endpoint URL and account details

If exporting only hand-selected devices is a requirement for your organization, contact Esper Support to submit a feature request and discuss alternative approaches that may meet your needs.

If you're still seeing all devices exported instead of just your filtered selection, please submit a support ticket and include the number of devices in your filter versus the number appearing in your export.
