Add Device Group/Record button moved to Provisioning section
Android
When looking for the Add Device Group/Record button in Devices & Groups, the button no longer appears there and the provisioning workflow cannot be started.
Why this happens
Esper moved all device registration and provisioning entry points out of Devices & Groups and into a dedicated Provisioning section in the left-hand navigation. This consolidation means every provisioning method — QR code, Zero-Touch, Knox Mobile Enrollment, and others — is now found in one place rather than spread across the Console.
Steps
- Open the Esper Console and sign in to your account.
- In the left-hand navigation, click Provisioning.
- Select the provisioning method that matches your deployment:
- QR Code — for manual or small-batch enrollment
- Zero-Touch Enrollment — for Google-managed zero-touch devices
- Android For Work (AFW) — for Android Management API enrollment
- Knox Mobile Enrollment (KME) — for Samsung devices managed through Knox
- Complete the provisioning workflow for your chosen method. Each method provides on-screen instructions specific to that flow.
- After provisioning completes, navigate to Devices & Groups to confirm the device has been registered. The device appears there once the Esper Agent has successfully checked in.
Verify: The newly provisioned device appears under Devices & Groups with a status of Active within a few minutes of completing the provisioning flow.
If the Provisioning section is not visible
If Provisioning does not appear in your left-hand navigation menu, your user role may not include the required permissions.
- Go to Company Settings → User Management.
- Locate your user account and review the assigned role.
- Confirm the role has provisioning permissions enabled. If it does not, ask your Esper administrator to update your role or assign a role with provisioning access.
If this doesn't resolve it
If the Provisioning section is still missing after confirming your permissions, or if a specific provisioning method you require is not listed, contact Esper Support. When reaching out, include the following:
- A screenshot of your left-hand navigation menu
- Your user role name as shown in Company Settings → User Management
- The provisioning method you are trying to use
