Device periodically locks with keyguard/PIN screen on Android 14

Your device may periodically display a keyguard or PIN lock screen on Android 14 Telpo C9D hardware, even without a deliberate lock action. This article explains the issue and how to resolve it.
Before you begin
This issue affects:
- Telpo C9D devices
- Android 14 (build
K1DN_A14_V1.0.6_202605141155or similar) - Devices with numeric PINs under Blueprint password quality policies
If your device locks periodically every few days to a week and you see a DEVICE_ADMIN_ALERTS notification on-device about insufficient password, follow these steps.
How to update your Esper Agent
Update to Esper Agent v12.0.4180 or later. Choose one of the following methods:
Method 1: Update a single device via the Esper Console
- In the Esper Console, go to Devices & Groups.
- Select your device.
- Go to the Apps tab.
- Find Esper Agent and update it to v12.0.4180 or later.
Method 2: Update via Blueprint
- In the Esper Console, go to Blueprints.
- Select your Blueprint.
- Go to Apps → Esper Agent.
- Set the version to v12.0.4180 or later.
- Apply the Blueprint to your affected devices.
How to monitor your device after the update
- After updating the Esper Agent, monitor your device for 7–10 days (matching the typical lock interval).
- Check that the
DEVICE_ADMIN_ALERTSnotification is no longer present on-device. - Verify that the device does not enter keyguard state without a deliberate lock action.
What to do if the device locks again
If your device continues to lock periodically after updating to Esper Agent v12.0.4180:
- Capture an Android bug report from the affected device as soon as possible after a lock event occurs. This requires physical access to the device.
- Gather the following information:
- The Android bug report file
- Esper Agent logs from the Esper Console around the time of the lock event
- Confirmation of your exact Esper Agent version at the time of the lock
- Contact Esper Support and provide all three items above so we can investigate further.
