"User is not assigned to this application" error: resolve via user invitation
Android
If you see the error message User is not assigned to this application when trying to log in to the Esper Console, it means your account hasn't been invited to your tenant yet. This article explains how to resolve this issue.
Before you begin
You'll need an existing Admin user account on your Esper tenant to send invitations. If you're the only Admin and have lost access, contact Esper Support.
How to invite a user to your tenant
- Log in to the Esper Console as an Admin user.
- Go to User Management in the left sidebar.
- Click Invite User.
- Enter the email address of the user who needs access.
- Select the appropriate Role (Viewer, Operator, Admin, etc.) based on what access level they need.
- Click Send Invite.
- The user will receive an invitation email. They must click the link in that email to complete their sign-up or sign-in and activate their access.
- Verify the user can now log in to the Esper Console. In User Management, their status should show as Active.
Troubleshooting
Invitation email not received
- Ask the user to check their spam or junk folder.
- Have the Admin resend the invite from User Management.
- Invitation links may expire if a long time has passed since the invite was sent.
User still sees the error after being invited
- Check the user's invitation status in User Management. If it shows Pending, the user hasn't clicked the invitation link yet. Ask them to check their email.
- If your tenant uses Single Sign-On (SSO) through an external provider like Okta or Azure AD, verify that the user's account is provisioned and assigned to the Esper application within your IdP's admin console. The invitation alone may not be enough for SSO-enforced tenants.
