Esper Agent software updates cannot be scheduled: use Deploy in Pipeline as interim workaround
Android
Title: Esper Agent updates cannot be scheduled — deploy manually via pipelineWhen updating the Esper Agent, the option to schedule the deployment for a future date and time is not available, so updates must be triggered immediately and by hand.
Why this happens
The Esper Console does not currently support deferred or scheduled execution for Esper Agent updates. Unlike OS and firmware updates, which can be scheduled through the Console, Esper Agent updates can only be deployed on-demand using the Deploy in Pipeline workflow. There is no automated or time-based trigger available for this update type.
How to deploy an Esper Agent update during your maintenance window
- At the start of your maintenance window, navigate to Esper Software Updates in the left navigation panel.
- Locate the Esper Agent version you want to deploy and select it. Confirm the version number matches what you intend to roll out before proceeding.
- Click Deploy in Pipeline.
- In the pipeline configuration screen, select the target devices or groups you want to update. Scoping to a group first lets you validate the update on a subset of devices before a wider rollout.
- Review the configuration summary, then click Deploy to trigger the update immediately. Because scheduling is not supported, this step must be performed by an admin or authorized user at the exact time you want the update to run.
- Monitor rollout progress in the pipeline view. Each device's status updates in real time as the Esper Agent installs.
Verify: Go to Devices & Groups → [Device Name] → Device Info and confirm the Esper Agent version shown matches the version you deployed. The updated version should appear within a few minutes of a successful install.
If this doesn't resolve it
If a device is not showing the updated Esper Agent version after 10 minutes, collect the following before contacting support:
- The device name and serial number from Devices & Groups → [Device Name] → Device Info
- The pipeline deployment ID from the pipeline view
- A screenshot of the current Esper Agent version shown on the device
- The Activity Feed entries for the affected device around the time of deployment, found at Devices & Groups → [Device Name] → Activity Feed
Contact Esper Support with these details so the deployment failure can be investigated.
Still need help?
If the steps above don't resolve the issue, submit a support ticket with your device model, Android version, Esper Agent version, and a description of what you've already tried — this helps the support team investigate without a follow-up.
