Group not visible in move-device dialog until searched: lazy-loading limitation in large group environments
Android
When you create a new group and then try to move devices into it using the group selection dialog, the new group may not appear in the initial list. This article explains why this happens and how to find your group.
Why your new group doesn't appear in the list
The group selection dialog loads groups in batches rather than all at once. When you have many groups in your account, your newly created group may not be included in the first batch that loads. This is a display issue only — your group exists and is fully functional.
How to find and move devices to your new group
- Navigate to Devices & Groups → Device Details (or use the bulk-move workflow for multiple devices).
- Click Move to Group.
- In the group selection dialog, do not scroll through the list. Instead, type your group's name (or part of it) in the search field.
- Your group will appear in the search results.
- Select your group and complete the move.
- Verify the device now appears in your target group by navigating to Devices & Groups and viewing the group tree.
If the search doesn't find your group
If your group does not appear even after searching by name, verify it was created successfully:
- Go to Devices & Groups and look for the group in the group tree view.
- If the group exists in the tree but the search in the move dialog does not return it, take a screen recording and contact Esper Support.
- If the group does not appear anywhere, it may not have been saved. Try creating it again.
Still need help?
If you're unable to locate your group or complete the move operation, submit a support ticket and include a description of the steps you've already taken.
