Device records represent devices that have not yet been provisioned. Once provisioned through Seamless Provisioning, these records will match with the device and automatically enroll with the Blueprint they’ve been assigned to.
In this article:
Creating a Device Record
Navigate to the Devices & Groups section of the Console and click on the Provision tab. Choose the Group you’d like to provision the device to. Then select Seamless Provisioning from the Provisioning Methods dropdown.
Next, add devices individually or through a bulk upload.
Individual Devices
For an individual device, select its unique identifier from the dropdown. The following types are supported:
- Serial Number
- IMEI
- MEI
- WifiMacID
- EthernetMacID
Optionally, an alias and tags can also be added to help identify the device.
Bulk Upload
Bulk upload allows you to upload multiple devices at once. To do so, download the CSV template, fill in the details, and upload the .csv file.
Once the file is uploaded, you can navigate away from the modal or upload another file.
Managing Device Records
When a device is uploaded a record is created. A record is a Unique Identifier (IMEI, Serial Number, Mac Address) that is associated with a device. A record can be assigned a group, tag, and alias.
To view Device Records, navigate to Devices & Groups and click on the Device Record count in the Summary > Directory Management section.
Once in the Ready to Onboard screen, you’ll see the pre-provisioned devices.
Use the Filter button to filter the list, the gear button to choose between device attributes (serial number, IMEI, etc.), or the Actions button to manage devices.
Select devices to bulk manage or click on the ellipsis to open the action dropdown menu.
Seamless Provisioning
After you’ve added a record to the Console, the next step is to Seamlessly Provision the device. Read more about Seamless Provisioning.
